Most people today have ipods. You probably do. But how do you get your music onto your ipod? Do you buy cds and copy them onto your library? Do you buy them off of iTunes? Or do you download them off limewire, mp3 rocket, or other music sources?
Many many many people illegally download them off of limewire. Many people would say this is why the internet is destroying the music bizz. I agree and disagree. I think people should support CD's but realistically from the amount of various artists and music people listen to today people would be spending thousands and thousands a month, a year..
The internet has helped many up and coming artist become big. Also online websites like myspace and facebook have helped artists get the word out about their band, upcoming concerts, and other news.
So in my opinion I don't really think the web is destroying the music business as a whole, but I would like it if more albums were sold like they used to. Now bands are making more money threw things like.. clothing, band merch, contests, and shows.
Your opinion?

Like emily z said, bands don't get a lot of money from cd's or downloads. They make their money at the concerts and by selling merchandise. With the internet, people can kinda "test-drive" bands and see if they like the music before buying the cd--I think the internet has actually helped the music industry.
I agree with emily. I think the internet is good for the band because it gets more people the listen to them especially myspace because you don't have to buy the cd to just listen to them.
I agree with the other two comments! Most of the money you pay for a CD goes for transporting, producing the plastic, all the fancy printings and so on... I think music downloads(the ones you have to pay for) are the future and you also save money with them cause you don't pay for all the transporting and plastic. Today everybody listens to the songs on their mp3 players anyways, so why buying all that expensive plastic in a store if you just need the data-file anyways and get it faster and cheaper online. The illegal music downloads online is an other thing, but if you think about it, before people also made hard copies of CDs. I think the bands and music companies still make enough money if not even more through the internet...even if there are illegal music downloads
the world wide web is destroying the music industry.
less and less people are buying cd's and getting ipods so without having records to sell, artists wont even make any songs=/
i dont think is harming to the artists at all as you can see from just looking at them there filthy rich!!! well at least most of them so what the heck are they complaining about they dont need more money!!!
I buy the songs from itunes
